Privacy
How we handle the details you share with us.
Plain language version: we keep your data to do the move properly, and we do not pass it on to anyone outside that work. The longer version is below.
What this policy covers
This policy describes how Forge Removals collects, uses, stores and protects the personal information you provide when you contact us through this website — primarily via the quote request form and direct emails. It is written to satisfy our obligations under the UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018.
What we collect
From the quote form and direct enquiries:
- Your full name
- Your email address
- Your phone number
- The pickup address and the drop-off address for the proposed move
- Optional: a preferred moving date and any notes you choose to add
From your browser and visit, we also receive standard technical information such as IP address, browser type and the pages you visited. This is used for site analytics and rate-limiting on the quote form.
Why we collect it
To answer your enquiry, arrange a survey, write a considered quote and — if you book the move — to plan and deliver the work. The lawful bases are:
- Steps taken at your request prior to entering into a contract (quote enquiries).
- Performance of a contract (booked moves).
- Legitimate interests (site security, rate-limiting and fraud prevention).
Who we share it with
Our quote request form is protected by Google reCAPTCHA. Your interaction with the form is subject to Google's privacy policy and terms of service.
If your move is international, customs paperwork and shipping manifests will be shared with the relevant customs authorities and carriers as required to clear the load. Other than that, we do not share your data with third parties for marketing or any other purpose. We do not sell your data.
How long we keep it
Quote enquiries that don't proceed to a booking are kept for up to twenty-four months and then deleted. Booked moves are kept for as long as is required for accounting, tax, warranty and customs record-keeping obligations.
Your rights
You have the right to:
- Request a copy of the personal data we hold about you.
- Ask us to correct any data that is inaccurate.
- Ask us to delete your data where there is no overriding obligation to retain it.
- Withdraw consent to any non-essential processing at any time.
- Complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) at ico.org.uk.
